Our win to build the New Oakville Hospital, a $2.7 billion (nominal) PPP (Public Private Partnership) project is proof that our people make all the difference.

Leadership

Even before the Request for Qualification (RFQ) was announced, our project leads were assembling the best team possible to win this project — the largest fixed price contract in EllisDon's history. Our goals were to build a great hospital and build a great relationship that would endure for the next 30 years. But we knew that we had to go over and above the norm. This is when we reached out to Carillion Canada. Some would see this as an odd relationship. Who in the business world, after all, openly and willingly partners with the competition? For us, it's about doing what it takes to get the job done for our client in the manner they expect. What we saw with the New Oakville Hospital project was the opportunity to take the best of EllisDon and pair it with the best of Carillion Canada for the benefit of all involved. We also brought along our strategic partners to ensure our success such as Fengate Capital Management and Parkin Architects.

A truly collaborative approach starts at the top and trickles down. This means sharing all strategies and approaches and being completely transparent with our partners. All egos disappeared when the team leaders walked into the project office each day, and everyone was unified in achieving a singular goal — winning. We understand that this type of open discussion and collaboration doesn't happen often in this industry, but without the commitment of each project team we were certain to have a different outcome. So how did we win?

We understood the client and their expectations. We looked into the future and designed a building that would meet their needs decades after completion. We assembled an integrated team with a history of proven results. We were lead by a group of inspired individuals who did everything with one goal in mind — success. And we built on the great relationships we've developed with the best talent in the industry. In short, we didn't do it alone.
